Water Situation

The primary source of water for Monterrey is groundwater and surface water from nearby rivers. However, due to climate change and population growth, these resources have faced significant pressure, leading to water scarcity during certain periods. Water quality, which was previously satisfactory, now sees challenges in meeting the higher demand and pollution. The responsible authority for water quality is the Monterrey Water and Sewer Services (Servicios de Agua y Drenaje de Monterrey), which also manages the distribution.
